1939 Forest Park Baseball Museum
Forest Park Baseball Museum founded in 1933 by Emery Parichy was a small but great place to visit. Art effects from baseball past were on display just outside Chicago. In 1939 the museum published a set of stamps created by Al Demaree, a former pitcher for the Chicago Cubs and professional cartoonist. The stamps were collected and affixed to a booklet with the history of the Centennial Baseball, the art work was outstanding. Additionally, thanks to a grant from the WPA, Federal Writers Project, a book Baseball in Old Chicago was sponsored by the museum. This full sheet of stamps and the original art work is very hard to find.
