Curteichcolor Yellow Hall of Fame Plaques

1964 was the 25th anniversary of the Hall of Fame. They produced a complete set of Hall of Fame plaques from 1936 to 1965 for the 102 members. The stamp box is marked 5DK and is a unique new member number. Example: Ty Cobb 5DK-697 printed in green ink. (This set is very hard to find).

Curteichcolor had a contract to produce plaques from 1964 to 1977

The stamp box codes used by the Hall of Fame to order inventory, reflect the induction year for new inductees.

1966-6DK, (The Ted Williams plaque was printed in 1968), 1968 - 8DK, 1969 - 9DK, 1970 - 0EK, 1971 - 1EK, 1972 - 2EK, 1973 - 3EK, 1974 - 4EK, 1975 - 5EK, 1976 - 6Ek, 1977 - 7EK.

In 1977 Curteichcolor produced plaques for Ernie Banks, Al Lopez and Joe Sewell. Curteichcolor did not produce the 1977 Negro League inductees. Hall of Fame plaques were often not printed in time for induction weekend. Curteichcolor's contract was cancelled in 1977 and was awarded to Dexter Press. In 1980 Curteichcolor was reinstated for one year. Their contract was cancelled again because the plaques were printed in Ireland and had a additional major error on the reverse of the plaque indicating induction year, Eddie Mathews and Lee MacPhail used 1980 not 1978, both plaques are very hard to find.
